Created a machine that prevents the spread of anthrax

news_13753_1_MDAt the present time is constantly being developed instruments aimed at countering toxins like anthrax, but the first main drawbacks are still too large in size and too high a price. The standard way to combat anthrax is a mixture of gaseous and liquid chlorine dioxide - both of these substances are highly toxic and require very careful handling them. The remains of the poison is neutralized with sodium bisulfite, and disposed of in a special way.

A team of scientists from the Institute of Technological Studies, Georgia in collaboration with Stellar Micro Devices have created a new non-destructive method of dealing with the plague. A remotely controlled device resembles a coat rack, surrounded by radiating modules installed at different heights. These modules emit a certain combination of X-ray and ultraviolet radiation. These types of radiation penetrate the outer layer of toxins that destroy the bacteria inside.

Unfortunately, this technology is lethal to humans and animals, so you can use it only remotely. However, it operates much more efficiently chlorinated toxins and, after disconnecting the device, you can immediately start working on the decontaminated area, as if nothing had happened.

The creators intend to make the device a number of enhancements that expand its functionality by allowing, for example, sterilization of surgical instruments or process wastewater from poultry farms.
